Professionals

Training for schools, social workers and professionals

Here at the CUBE our foundations are based on the ethos of restorative approaches, which means we believe people are the experts in their own lives and that people, partners and communities are at the heart of everything we do.

We can offer training in restorative approaches and in trauma informed practices, including practical, therapeutic powerful interactions.

Working with many professionals who support children they often share how they are worried about 'opening a can of worms' in conversations.

This course aims to build your confidence in how to approach difficult conversations and support children and young people.

We also believe in supporting the implementation of these practises, so offer an opportunity for our facilitators to come to your school/organisation a few months after training to spend time to help implement the learnings. We work with you to strengthen your skills and help support you develop further in your learning.

Overview of course:

  • The neuroscience and psychology of child and adolescent mental health and mental ill-health.
  • ACE (Adverse Childhood Experience) study and Protective Factors
  • Professor Jaak Panksepp’s model of mental health, mental ill-health and theory of change
  • Reflective practises
  • Nurturing Relationships
  • The importance of listening

  • Key skills in responding to and understanding challenging and/or trauma triggered behaviour.
  • Restorative Conversations
  • How to use creative practises

  • Direct and Indirect conversations

  • Learn to relate to children and young people in ways that alleviate their suffering, support their learning and make them feel cared for and appreciated
  •  Learn how to relate with children in ways that enhance their self-esteem, confidence and feelings of psychological safety.
  • Know how to respond to children who are in distress/ stress states in ways that help them to emotionally regulate, feel psychologically safe and develop the capacity to handle stress well over time

What if you have already got training but are still looking for further support?

Our facilitator's have a range of experience's and qualifications. We can tailor make support that will help you and your staff implement the learning, and support ongoing development and training. We will work with you, your  staff, and or team .  We are able to run groups for children, and help empower your staff to make the changes they wish to see.
