Brightlink and CUBE, in partnership have established the Home Working Network to support those who are seeing changes in the way they work in 2020 and beyond. Now we are using our skills and experience, coming together to work on a Lottery Community Funded project to support people who are still working as front line staff/key workers in the Barry community or working from home to support our community here during the Covid 19 pandemic.
Each week the Barry Supporting the Supporters Network offers free, restorative check ins and check outs led by Lorna and Tammi. Let’s connect with each other to share support and encourage each other during this time when things are a bit different to the usual routine. If you’re an old hand at working from home and you have some great tips techniques and routines, come along and share them. If you’re new to working from home, or finding it challenging, come and see what everyone else is doing and pick up a plan. We’ve been home working for many years and working together with remote teams, we’d love to share how we do it and learn from you. Communication and connection are so important when working remotely, for business but also more importantly for wellbeing.
You may still be working in the community to support vulnerable people and miss working with your team and just want to stop by twice a week to feel a part of a team, to share your concerns and feel some support. These free, confidential, supported sessions run on a Monday 12 – 1 for check ins and a Friday lunchtime 12 – 1 for check outs.
Bring a cup of tea, coffee, fruit juice or water and join us for a video conference check in on Monday lunchtime and a check out to debunk the working week and leave it behind for the weekend on Friday lunchtime. In Monday check ins, Lorna and Tammi meet with people in this free, informal chat about who we are, what we do, our plan to work for the week and how we’re taking care of ourselves, our families, our communities and our work. Lorna leads us through some top tips for organisation and planning where we all work together to make life easier.
In Friday afternoon check outs, Tammi a clinical psychotherapist will take a more therapeutic approach to helping us plan how we’ll draw our week to a close. We’ll check how everyone is doing, connect and support and bring closure to the working week. With boundaries in place we’ll stay well and connected with ourselves, our friends and our family as we’ll be able to put aside our connection to work and our colleagues for some rest. We can enjoy a weekend, or whatever time we have, doing whatever makes us well and happy and we can return to our next working week rested, creative and productive.
Weekly check ins and check outs are open to anyone and are free, although you can commission us to facilitate bespoke check ins and check outs for your teams too. There is also a free Facebook group available for those who attend check ins and check outs.
